The student in this grade was motivated to learn English. The units were divided into topics with grammar, reading comprehension, and writing. The culmination of the semester was for the student to master Fry’s top 100 high frequency vocabulary words. He spread out these words across the table and worked on memorizing them using mnemonics. He was also able to do some work across disciplines as well. Flashcards, building blocks, and numerical card games helped in mathematical development as well as English language development.
