Principal's Letter For May 2026

May has started on a wonderful note for the ACIS community. We are proud to share that ACIS has officially earned ACS WASC accreditation for Grades K–12, marking an important step in our school’s continued growth. We are deeply grateful to our dedicated teachers, caring and involved parents, and students, who have put their hard work, heart, and soul into helping us reach this milestone. I also wanted to share a few updates so you know what’s coming up.

First up, International Day / Grand Bazaar / Open House on May 21! This is always one of the most exciting days of the year. We kick things off at 8:00 AM with a parade of nations and an opening ceremony. From 9:00 AM, classrooms turn into country booths with games, food, and cultural displays. Students will be roaming around with their “passports,” learning as they go. After lunch, we’ll have our torch ceremony across the buildings, followed by some fun Olympic-style games in the afternoon. It’s a fantastic day that really brings our whole community together.

Early Years Market Day is coming to Building A! This is a fun, hands-on learning experience for Grade 1 that ties directly into their Social Studies and Math learning. Students will explore buying and selling, practice using money, and learn about goods, services, and basic entrepreneurship. It’s always a favorite and a great way to make classroom learning come alive.

Primary School We’re happy to welcome Ms. Zita as our new computer teacher. Be sure to say hello if you see her around campus!

Middle & High School Our Study Hall program is ongoing after school from 3:30–4:30 PM. Students are using this time to complete assignments and stay on track with their learning.

Performing Arts You’re all invited to our upcoming concert, Sounds of Spring, on May 16 at the UCIS Ambassador Hall from 3:30–5:00 PM. Our students have been working hard all year, and this is their moment to shine—we’d love to see you there.

Athletics (CMAC Season 3) We have a busy month of matches and tournaments ahead across badminton, volleyball, futsal, and chess. Thank you in advance for supporting our student-athletes. It really makes a difference when they see familiar faces cheering them on.

Air Quality & Safety As always during this season, we’re keeping a close eye on air quality. If AQI levels rise, students stay indoors, and we adjust activities as needed. Student safety is always our top priority, and we’ll continue to monitor conditions throughout the day.

Thanks, as always, for your continued support. It’s a pleasure seeing your children learn and grow every day, and I hope to see many of you on campus soon.

Cheers!

Timothy Traser (Mr. T) Principal Americana Chinese International School
